Toledo, Ohio – Race Report

So there it is, the last race of the 2010 Midwest Series is in the books. It's been an interesting year and seems like it is over too soon. Toledo pulled out all the stops to make this a season finale to remember. The weather was a bit on the cool side but the racing and even the pig were plenty hot. We had planned on doing something for the last race of the season in the way of a BBQ or hamburgers and hot dogs but with a suggestion and some leg work by Ted Hammer it was decided that City BBQ would cater a pig roast. A Big thanks needs to go out to Ted and the Toledo club for helping share the cost. I hope everyone enjoyed the food and refreshments. I also hope everyone enjoyed all the races this season and can look back and say they had fun. Racing is supposed to be fun and I know Mike and I tried our best to make that happen this year.

As long as we are throwing out the “F” bombs, we have to talk about F ast. The Toledo track was at its best this past weekend and provided some of the fastest times this year. If there is any doubt how fast the track was just consider the times compared to the GLC. TQ in sedan was over 5 ½ seconds faster than the GLC top time. The top four GT racers all beat the GLC top time with the top three breaking into the 13 lap zone that no one had cracked. The trend continued as the TQ in 1/8 th was over 4 seconds quicker than any GLC qualifier.

Congratulations to all the winners this weekend! The top five in points also received their awards at the end of the day and have their pictures included in this report.
